Today we’re announcing a new moniker for MAP Protocol — MAPO, as we start to increase our outreach to more blockchains as well as more communities. Our old moniker MAP is easy to remember and has been around for some time. But here is why we decided to evolve MAP to MAPO (as well as the token name $MAP to $MAPO).
🌱 O as the O in Omnichain and O in MAP PrOtOcOl
As you may know, after almost four years of full-stack development, MAP Relay Chain was finally launched in August 2022. Now all major L1s will be integrated at the end of this year, after which we will officially kick start our omnichain plan. As we take on that, we want people to know our omnichain vision when they first know about MAP Protocol.
On top of that, since o is also a key element in our full name MAP Protocol, adding the O to our old moniker also keeps our branding cohesive.
🙋♀️ What to Expect with the Name Change
Over the next few months, you’ll see more mentions of MAPO on websites, forums, and socials. With the name change, our contracts on MAP will change to MAPO, and our token name $MAP will also become $MAPO which we will have more details on later.
If you see MAPO, don’t be surprised. It’s still us. We’re still MAP Protocol, but more consistent and, we hope, more instantly recognizable.
